Att. Stefania Gicheva and Att. Pepa Marnikas from Kancheff, Gicheva, Marnikas & Partners Law Firm have completed a training course for personal data protection officer (DPO).
During the training, were observed the legal and technical aspects of personal data protection, the rights and obligations of the data protection officer, the responsibilities of controllers and processors of personal data, the grounds for processing of personal data, as well as in the case of direct marketing, the analysis of data processing activities, risk assessment and impact assessment, the rights of data subjects and their means of exercise, and the requirements for the transfer of personal data. The regulation of relations between controllers and processors, the liability clauses for failure to perform the contract by the processor, the carrying out of checks and audits in the event or at the discretion of the data controller, as well as the capabilities of the processor to use subcontractors were also discussed in detail.
Particular attention was paid to appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the protection of personal data, access control, authentication methods, ways to “leak” personal data, online threats against data security, risks of improper processing and storage of personal data, etc.
Upon completion of the training, participants in the course received certificates of acquired knowledge and skills to effectively carry out the functions of personal data protection officers.
