On October 2, 2019, a training seminar on personal data protection was held in Sofia Tech Park. The training was aimed at the specific business needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the application of GDPR as well as the legal advisers dealing with data privacy issues.
On behalf of the “Kancheff, Gicheva, Marnikas and Partners” Law Firm, Att. Stefania Gicheva and Att. Pepa Marnikas participated in the expert workshop in relation to the processing of personal data.
The training is part of the EU SMEdata Project ‘Ensuring the Highest Degree of Privacy and Personal Data Protection through Innovative Tools for SMEs and Citizens’.
Coordinator of the Project is the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection in cooperation with the Italian Supervisory Authority, Roma Tre University, the Union of Bulgarian Jurists, etc.
Among the main topics were the effective implementation of GDPR requirements into the day-to-day operations of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including a roadmap toward achieving compliance with the data privacy rules, the staff training in SMEs on the challenges of GDPR, an impact assessment on data protection in SMEs and many more.
Also, the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection presented the practical application and interpretation of the GDPR as well as case studies of its practice. Additionally, during the expert workshop, participants discussed a number of practical issues they encountered in implementing GDPR requirements.
As well, the participants shared their experience and best practices regarding personal data protection.
The training seminar was practical and interactive with plenty of time for discussion and group exercises including case studies.
